Highlights

Leadership Academy

The mission for Leadership and School Improvement is to provide school leaders with the necessary training, coaching, and development experienced needed to help their organizations be successful in developing and sustaining a rigorous and relevant school culture that promotes students’ academic progress and ability to be problem solvers and critical thinkers; supports students’ social and emotional development; and, embraces development of students’ physical and economic well-being.

Delta Youth Leadership Initiative

The goal of “DYLI” is to provide opportunities and experiences that will allow Delta-area youth to prepare to be 21st century leaders by utilizing core educational knowledge and skills contextually to promote the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills; to develop youths’ ability to positively collaborate with others; and to assist youth in effectively communicating with others to improve the quality of life in their living environment.

Financial Literacy

The goals of the Financial Literacy Initiative are: to encourage children to development life-long habits of good money management; to increase children’s awareness of how economics relate to their lives as a work, citizen, and consumer; to teach critical thinking skills that enhance students’ ability to become responsible consumers, savers, investors, citizens, and members of the 21st century workforce.

Graduation Coaches

The purpose of the program is to locate, connect with, and secure help from key stakeholders who can assist students in successfully navigating the road to graduation.

Health and Wellness/Double Dutch Jump Rope

The Center will assist in the development of the Double Dutch Initiative in Delta-area communities as a means of promoting health and wellness in children. The Health and Wellness Initiative will utilize platforms such as jumping rope so children will have fun at the same time they are being provide opportunities for meaning conversations and developing healthy lifestyles during their early years.

Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)

MAP is used to measure a student’s achievement and academic growth, independent of grade, across time. MAP data can be used by teachers to determine students’ instructional level and provide indicators of skills and concepts a student understands, skills he or she is developing, and skills that may be academically challenging.

Early Literacy and Health and Wellness Institute

The goals of the Pre-K Reading Institute are: to help early learners develop phonics and understand print conventions; to provide consistent, sequential instruction to build vocabulary and comprehension via daily read alouds; to deliver intentional and ongoing phonemic awareness and phonics instruction on rhymes, rhyming games, and word family and word study activities; to provide small group learning that stresses letter and phonemic awareness, math concepts and counting, the independent use of concepts being studied and the development of independent learning skills.
